About Rinconsaurus
What it was like
Rinconsaurus was a slender titanosaur, a long-necked plant eater. Its tail bones had an unusual mix of joint shapes. It is known from partial skeletons of several animals.
Its world
It lived about 86 to 84 million years ago, in the Late Cretaceous, in what is now Argentina. Its bones come from the Bajo de la Carpa Formation, where it shared the land with the small predator Velocisaurus and the small Alvarezsaurus.
How it was found
Calvo and González Riga named it in 2003. It is named after a town near where it was found.
