About Vahiny
What it was like
Vahiny was a titanosaur, a long-necked plant eater. It is known from a braincase, which differs from that of the other titanosaur in the same rocks.
Its world
It lived about 72 to 66 million years ago, near the end of the Cretaceous, in what is now Madagascar. It comes from the Maevarano Formation, where it shared the land with the abelisaur Majungasaurus, the titanosaur Rapetosaurus and the small predator Masiakasaurus.
How it was found
Curry Rogers and Wilson named Vahiny in 2014. Its name refers to a visitor from far away, since its closest relatives seem to have lived elsewhere.
