16 kinds of dinosaur have been found in Germany, from 45 recorded finds. The best known are Iguanodon, Compsognathus and Plateosaurus.
Most of the fossils come from the Löwenstein Formation, the Trossingen Formation, the Bückeberg Formation, the Painten Formation and the Süntel Formation.
