Early armored dinosaurs
The early armored dinosaurs were the first members of the line that led to stegosaurs and ankylosaurs. They were small to medium-sized plant-eaters with rows of bony scutes along the back and sides.
Most lived in the Early Jurassic. Scelidosaurus from England is known from nearly complete skeletons, and Scutellosaurus from Arizona was light enough to run on two legs.
