Where in the world?

Drop a pin where you think each dinosaur's fossils were found. The closer you get, the more points you score.

148 dinosaurs, five a game, up to 5,000 points each.

How to play

Choose today's world or the ancient Earth. Each round names a dinosaur and tells you its group and when it lived. Tap the map to drop your pin, move it as often as you like, then confirm. You can zoom with the buttons, a pinch or the mouse wheel, and drag to look around.

The map then shows every place its fossils have been found. You score up to 5,000 points by how close your pin is to the nearest one, and a pin within 1,000 km (621 mi) earns that dinosaur's fossil card for your collection.

The real story

Fossils turn up where rocks of the right age reach the surface, often in dry badlands where wind and rain wear the rock away. That is why so many famous dinosaurs come from the American West, the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and the Sahara.

The continents have moved since. Allosaurus is found in both the western United States and Portugal: in the Late Jurassic the Atlantic was a young, narrow ocean and the two lands were far closer. The Ancient Earth maps show the world as it was, so you can see where each dinosaur really walked.
